Diploma Course
Duration: 60 hrs / 9 days
The course supplements the Basic and Advanced Training Course. The aspects of operational aviation medicine, occupational health care for flight crews, aviation psychology are broadened and depended, the knowledge of civil aviation is supplemented by aspects of military aviation.
Another aspect is aviation medicine with respect to air traffic controllers. The training is complemented with a visit to a major European Air Control Centre.
Major scopes of this course are travel medicine and air passenger health issues. The seminar fulfils the requirements of the German Association for Travel Medicine for obtaining the basic certificate for travel medicine. The training encompasses Tropical Medicine, Immunology, Infectiology, Diving Medicine, Altitude and Mountaineering Medicine. Air Passenger Health Issues encompass the assessment of prospective passengers with concomitant diseases with respect to their flight travel fitness, the air transport of such passengers, management of medical emergencies on board an aircraft and repatriation of patients by air (medevac). There will be a hands-on training of half a day under life conditions. Another aspect is how the aviation industry deals when confronted with contagious diseases and a potential pandemic (e.g. SARS or Avian Influenza). Practical training with discussion of a host of real life case reports will deepen the knowledge of all participants.
The course is an ideal supplement for all participants of basic and advanced course, everybody interested in aviation and travel medicine and especially those working with travellers and air passengers in their daily practice.
